HMS ''Blencathra'' (L24) was a destroyer of the Royal Navy in commission from 1940 to 1948. She was a member of the second subgroup of the class, and saw service through most of World War II.
==Construction and commissioning==
''Blencathra'' was ordered under the 1939 War Emergency Build Programme from Cammell Laird, Birkenhead, on 4 September 1939. She was laid down as Job Number V1048 on 11〔 or 18〔 November 1939 and launched on 6 August 1940. She was completed on 14 December 1940〔 and immediately commissioned, under the command of Commander Hugh Waters Shelley Browning, RN.〔
